Quality inspection · China

Inspection before you pay the balance.

You already have a supplier. What you do not have is someone standing on the production floor before the container is sealed. A pre-shipment inspection to AQL standards, with photos and video in your inbox before the balance clears, is the cheapest insurance an importer can buy.

Three kinds of check

Pick the moment that protects you most.

The balance payment and the sealed container are the only two moments when you still have leverage. Inspection is built around them.

Pre-shipment inspection

At 80–100% packed. Random sampling to AQL, functional checks, packing and marking verified against your spec. The standard check for most orders.

During-production check

At 20–40% complete. Catches a wrong material, colour or dimension while there is still time to correct it without missing the ship date.

Factory audit

Before you place a first order. Licence, capacity, equipment, quality system and working conditions verified in person, not from a brochure.

What you receive

A report you can act on, not a checklist.

Reports go out within one business day of the visit, with the defect classification explained in plain language and a recommendation: release, rework, or hold.

Photos and video

Every checkpoint photographed. Video of function tests. Packing, cartons and shipping marks recorded.

AQL result and defect list

Critical, major and minor defects counted against the AQL level you chose, with each one pictured.

A plain recommendation

Release the balance, ask for rework, or hold the shipment — and what we would negotiate with the factory in each case.

How it is priced

Per man-day, and credited if you move to a full project.

Standalone inspection is quoted per man-day, the same way the established third-party firms price it, with the figure confirmed in writing before we book the visit. Most single-line orders are one man-day; large or multi-line orders may need two.

If you later move the supplier relationship to a full sourcing project with us, inspection is included in the project fee — and any standalone inspection you have already paid for is credited against it in full. The first inspection is a way to see how we work; it should never cost you twice.

FAQ

Questions people ask about this.

What AQL level do you use?

Whatever your spec calls for. If you do not have one, we recommend AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor for general consumer goods and tighten it for retail displays and anything glass or electrical. We explain the choice before the visit.

Where in China can you inspect?

Throughout southern China at standard rates, and elsewhere in the country with travel quoted in advance. Tell us the factory address and we will confirm before you book.

How fast is the report?

Within one business day of the visit, usually the same evening. Photos are shared as they are taken if the order is time-critical.

What if the goods fail?

You get the defect list with pictures and our recommendation. We can then negotiate rework, replacement or a credit with the factory on your behalf, in Mandarin, before any balance is paid.
